New Year's Resolution

Happy New Year My Dear Students,

The fresh and bright new year is arriving. We remember all happy times and recall how much they mean to our lives. There are still some things that we would like to make them better or change our own habits to achieve what we want. What I just mentioned is called "resolution". Some people's resolutions are "quit smoking", " spend more time with family", "get out of debt" etc. To me, my resolution for next year is to enjoy life more by making my work-life balance. Meaning Behind Christmas Symbols

Merry Christmas my dear students,

The time of celebration is coming. You can see lot of colourful light and Christmas trees decorated with beautiful ornaments in many places during this time of the year. We all are used to the candy cane, the gift bow,the star, etc. but don't know exactly what they are about? Therefore, I think it would be nice for you to know the meaning of these symbols. The Star: A heavenly sign of prophecy fulfilled long, long ago- The shining hope of mankind.

Hello !

I have not posted my blog for two months.I knew that you wondered where I was.Some may have had a question if I was alive.I am sorry for not telling you that I was going to disappear.I had a lot of things to do.The deadline for the submission was in the middle of October,and I had to finish them on time.After I had done all of my writing assignments,I extremely exhausted.I needed time to relax.I hope you understand me.Anyway,I am back,and I want to tell you that I think of you very much.

I loved every single day when I finished my work. I stayed at home,cooked,watched TV,listened to music,read books,shopped at Future Park Department Store,and had my body massaged.There was nothing to be stressful or concerned about.There was just only me and my family.I really enjoyed my life.

Talented Aussie Singer

Today I'd like to share you two songs named “Born to Try” and “Lost without You” by Delta Goodrem. I was recommended to listen to these songs by Laddy. She told me that Delta is one of the most famous Australian singers. Actually, I know just few Australian singers. One of my favourite is the Savage Garden. Therefore, I’m quite excited to listen to Delta’s songs. After listening to “Born to Try” and “Lost without You”, I found that she is so talented. She writes songs, plays music and sings. Moreover, her voice is so powerful and beautiful. It is really impressive. If you think you can, you can!

Recieved a certificate from The Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Paul Grigson.

I'm thinking about posting biographies of people who success in their lives and can be good role models for you. Therefore, I will write about them, one person a week so that you can learn how those people can reach their dreams and achieve their goals. I really hope that you will be inspired and think about yourselves.
Today I would like to introduce you to one of my students who is also my niece. Her name is Ladawan Hengwichitkul. You can see her messages on this blog sometimes. I decided to write about her firstly because she is a kind of person who doesn’t come from a perfect background, but a negative attitude toward English. She hated English and didn’t think she could study it because she thought that she was not good at it. Once when she was in the 9th grade (matthayom 3), she was informed by her English teacher that she failed her midterm exam. She was so sad that she didn’t want to study anymore. I talked to her and told her that if she did a great effort and believed in herself, she could pass it. Luckily, she believed me. She did her task commitment and kept discipline to practice her English every day. Finally, she did not only pass it, she also has been the top of English subject since then. This may be a reason why she chose to study English as her major when she went to the university.
In her working life, she used to work at one of famous private schools in Bangkok as a head of Innovation and International Projects to build up online learning network with schools in other countries and also worked for Srinakharinwirot University where she earned her Master's Degree in English.
Ladawan is now studying in Australia. She received a scholarship from Australian government to undertake the Interactive Digital Media Games at Southbank Institute of Technology in Brisbane, Queensland. She received several awards including the Thailand Think.com Teacher Challenge2008, Microsoft Innovative Teacher Leadership Awards 2007, the Thailand Animation & Multimedia Awards 2005. She also received a scholarship to take the online Professional Development Course in the Teaching of Foreign Language and Second Languages by using ICT as Tools in 2008 from the USA.
Surprisingly, even if she has very good English skills, as my opinion, she still practices her English every day by reading English novels, listening to audio books, writing a journal and imitating native speaker’s accent from the T.V. I told you a lot about her because I want you to know that you can be like her or more than her, if you think you can and do a GREAT effort to achieve what you really want. So...let’s start it now.

Kingda Ka

Kingda Ka is a roller coaster located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey, USA. It is the tallest and fastest roller coaster on earth;moreover, it becomes the remarkable thrill ride in the world. It also breaks all world records for coaster speed and height. The coaster is 456 feet tall and launches from 0-128 mph in 3.5 seconds. Riders climb up one side at 90-degrees, and then plunge into a corkscrew at 90-degree nosedive down the other. Due to the fastest speed of Kingda Ka, it is closed on rainy days because the rain would whip against riders’ faces.

I personally like this awesome roller coaster,but I am scared of roller coasters. I am not a kind of thrill seeker.I could die on the spot if I rode the world’s fastest and tallest roller coaster ever. Thus,I prefer to watch the riding.

Take Me To Your Heart

I have a song downloaded from www.youtube.com.It is “Take Me To Your Heart”. It was sung by Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR). MLTR is a Danish soft rock band that performs songs in English. I can say that it is my favorite song.They are quite popular in Thailand and many countries in Asia.In my opinion, they focus on the Asian market. I asked my friends from England and America if they knew this band and the awesome song; however, they said they never heard my favorite band. That first surprised me. When I learn more about this band, I understand why.

Sand Painting

When we talk about sand, we may think of sand on the beach because we have many beautiful beaches in Thailand. We can see some tourists building sand castles or beach sunbathing, but sand can be done more than those. We can use it for painting. Many artists draw with sand on grass.They paint it by using just only their fingers. Ilana Yahav,a sand animation artist, is hugely popular.She paints sand on the glass table. Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Tacoma Narrows Bridge is a suspension bridges in the United States of America.It opened to traffic on July 1,1940.Its length was 5939 feet.It was very active in the wind so it uncontrollably moved like traveling on a giant roller coaster.Thus,it earned the nick name “Galloping Gertie”.Sadly,it collapsed on November 7,1940.That was just four months after the opening.It was reported that no one died in that collapse.

Scare Tactics

A: Are you scared?
B: Yes,I am scared.
A: You shouldn't be. .....because you are on the Scare Tactics.

This is a short conversation commonly found on the Scare Tactics TV series.I have watched this program since the first season.I think it is the fourth season now.It is a hidden camera show.Unsuspecting victims are put into terrifying situations set up by their lovely friends or family in tandem with producers.The victims would be in terrifying scenes such as a strange monster,a terrible accident,or a violent crime being committed.They are rarely angry because their beloved persons set the situations up.Americans like to do something strange like these,but it is never found something like these in Thailand.These are the different cultures between the two countries.We need to learn to deeply understand their cultures.Anyway,I hope no one ever does that to me because I am easily scared.

Freegans

The term Freegan is the combination of two words - Free and Vegan.Vegans are ones who do not eat any animal products at all,but some freegans are called meagans because they consume meat and other animal products that would have gone to waste.

There are many freegans in America and England.These foragers are neither homeless nor destitute.They just reject the culture of wasteful consumption.They subsist on what people throw away.They do not like the way people throw a lot of food in good condition.According to freegan standards,the food thrown away by the stores are either nearing the end of their sell date or are bruised or damaged but they are still good to eat.Thus, they find food in the garbage of restaurants,grocery stores,and supermarkets.

Some freegans get free food by pulling it out of the trash.The others waits for a burly crew of a supermarket to toss bulging black bags filled with the day's trash at night.They gingerly open and dissect the contents inside the bags,then they take what they can eat or what they can use homes.They have the ideas that they save their environment and support their community.

A Ninja Cat

I found a funny video clip available on the youtube website.It shows a stalking cat,but I think it is acting as if it was a ninja.The cat is so cute!I can not stop smiling.It moved a little closer when the camera was out of her view.Then,it kept freezing where it stood when the camera peeked out from the hidden place.It is so funny.I love the two big curious eyes.

I have a cat named Night.She is a lazy cat.Like my dog,she sleeps all day.She does not like to play.I sometimes let her watch a clip showing cats'activities;however, she is the same Night.Everything can not change her habits.

Tornado

Thailand is a wonderful land.There are no natural disasters,like hurricane, volcanic eruption,tornado,earthquake,or landslide in our country.Consequently,my students do not have their pior knowledge about them.Actually,they are so lucky.

I have the interesting video clip downloaded from www.youtube.com.It is about a tornadoe.Why do I choose it? This is because there is a content of a tornadoe in my students'textbooks.I believe that learning by watching the real situation can help them imagine the unseen disaster.

A tornadoe is a violently rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground.Tornadoes are rated according to the damage they can do on a scale.The most violent tornadoes are capable of vast destruction with winds around 200 mph.The colors of tornadoes vary depending on sizes, directions of sunlight and types of debris they are picking up.They are dreadly dangerous to be on their ways since they can destroy everything into the air such as large buildings,huge trees and large vehicles.

Time is precious for ones who think every minute is essential.I am sure that they rarely want to waste their time.They can do something incredible in one minute.One minute can completely change their lives.One minute can show their competence and potential hidden inside.One minute can change the world because of their power.

Just Wanna Sleep

Ke,my cousin,sent me a common picture this evening.However,it is so meaningful to me.I love sleeping because I feel strong and lively.Since I have a lot of things to do,and they must be finished by the end of September,I must stay up late every night.That makes me crazy whenever I think about it.I always miss my comfortable bed around 9.00 pm,but it is just a dream.Sitting in front of my computer at night is my real life.Thus,Looking at this picture makes me happy and I feel as if I were in bed.Thanks Ke.

The Titanic

Titanic means very big,but I do not intend to write something about the word titanic.I just want to post about The Titanic,the sinking ship on 15 April 1912.The Titanic was built at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast,the largest city in Northern Ireland.She was designed to compete with the rivals in luxury.For her time,she was the largest passenger steamer in the world.Since she was designed and used some of the most advanced in technology available at the time,she was named the unsinkable vessel.On April 10,1912,The Titanic left Southampton , England, on her maiden voyage to New York City.There were 2,223 passengers and crew aboard the Titanic,nevertheless,carrying only 20 lifeboats with a total capacity of 1,178 people.That was not enough to hold all of the passengers and crew.On 14 April 1912,the fourth day of the journey,she was making around 21.5 knots at speed through the fateful night.In addition, temperature of the loss day dropped below the freezing points.There was a message sending from the steamer Amerika warned that large icebergs lay in the Titanic's path.She hit an iceberg and sank two hours and forty minutes later,early on 15 April 1912.Only 706 people survived the collision with the iceberg and 1,517 perished.

I have a question come in my mind about the sinking ship.I want to know who made this disaster happened.I mean who sank the streamer.You,my students,need to do a research and you will know that there were a lot of people concerning the loss day.

Behaviour Analysis

Dear students,

The Painting Elephant

My dear students may wonder about this topic.I am not kidding you.This topic is about an elephant that can paint a picture.Actually,many elephants in the north of Thailand have been trained to do a lot of incredible activities since they were young,and then they show their abilities to tourists.Everybody is trained to draw at school,but I never know that elephants can be taught to paint.Therefore,they do not need to work hard in the forests but painting like artists.Fabulous! I used to show this kind of pictures to my American friends and their students when I visited Mansfield Middle School in America.They said what I showed to them was amazing.I know that Thai elephants have got the talents of painting,playing football,dancing, swimming and posting for snaping pictures of them and tourists.who know they can do like those.I think it is better if they are brought back to the north and let them do the activities like the smart one in the clip.This is because I am not happy to see a lot of elephants walking around Bangkok and asking for food from pedestrians at night.Painting is the nice choice because they have shelters,food,hobbies,love and wage(vegetables or fruits).Moreover,their paintings can be sold to the tourists as the souvenirs of the Thailand.I say that they become the stars of foreigners visiting our country and they will not forget the large animals with tiny brushes. GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra

I've just watched GI Joe:The Rise of Cobra movie trailer and found that it would be a good choice for my weekend activity instead of being a couch potato at home.Just be glued to the telly.It's not healthy to do so,is it? Okay,now let's talk about the movie.I think all of you might hear about the name of GI Joe.In my case,I've been familiar with GI Joe since I was a kid.Actually,it was a series of cartoon books and toys before a movie.The movie is an extraordinary action-adventure movie with tons of cool tech stuffs.The scene is set in the future in the desert to the polar ice caps.It is about the fight between the military and the corrupt arms dealer. Although I am not a big fan of this movie,I would like to watch it anyway.I will share it with you guys soon.If you like Transformers,I bet you will definitely enjoy GI Joe:The Rise of Cobra.Have a wonderful weekend,kids.

The Definitions of Love

I am going to give a speech to M1 students on Monday.The topic I decide to present to them is THE DEFINITIONS OF LOVE.I have to research thoroughly because M1 students are young and may need pictures to make some abstract information clear.I am absolutely certain that fifty minute presentation in the afternoon without visual material can bore them.Thus I will let the small children listen to songs downloaded from www.youtube.com shown below because I believe that everybody likes songs.Then,I will connect them to the topic and to their daily lives.I think this will work and help them understand what I am going to convey the messages to them.There are five definitions of love that I try to express to them even though there are more definitions than those.They consist of the love of themselves,environment,the king and the country.M6 students listened to the first song last month and gave me the useful comments.They are Thai songs.This is because it is not my English class,but it is the M1 level meeting.However,I still need my M6 students'opinions about the songs.Tell me what you think about them and which song you like the most.

A Thing About You

I posted my favorite song downloaded from www.youtube.com.It was a song sung by Roxette.I really like the music,singers,MV and the plot of the song.The MV is marvelous.It is"A Thing About You".I want to talk about Roxette because I think you may not know them well.Actually,Roxette is a Swedish pop rock band comprising Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson.They are very popular."It Must Have Been Love" was the first song from which I got to know them.All of their songs,"A Thing About You" is the song I like the most.However,I wonder if my students like it as I do.I also give you the lyrics so you can sing along.

Tyson:The Skateboarding Dog

Some students may think that learning something new is absolutely difficult and they may quit doing it when they can not succeed in their first attempt.Others may try to conquer the difficulties although they may cry a thousand times alone.They boldly encounter the problems,and enjoy learning such the things.This is like a dog named Tyson.He is the dog that never gives up.He learnt to skateboard given to him on his first birthday.He started to play with it.Actually,he did not know how to play and he never went to school.He had fallen from the skateboard many times but he constantly played with the new unfamiliar sport.Finally,He can make it!Moreover,he can stand on it by himself and ride for fun every day.He does not care who will look at him.He love to play with the skateboard.Take a look at him from the two video clips and you will broaden the outlook on life.Hope you will like them.

The Relationship Between Two Men and One Lion

I have a video clip you can not miss.It is about the relationship between two men,John Rendall and Ace Berge, and one lion named Christian.The two men decided to raise a lion cub when they saw it for sale in Harrods Cramped in a small cage.They love it very much and named it Christian.However;the lion was bigger than when he was the cub and they could not keep it in the house.Thus they needed to bring it to Africa in order to live in the forest as the habitat of the wild animals.One year later,they missed it and wanted to visit the lion they raised but some people told them that it would not remember them.

Harry Potter

I saw a movie,Harry Potter,last week.It is the 6th series,the Half-Blood Prince.It is the fantasy adventure film based on the novel by J. K. Rowling that I decide to read all the books released and watch all the series shown.I think the director focused on the love of the three guys and missed the important part that I looked forward to seeing such as the adventures of Dumbledore and Harry,the essential reasons of Malfoy and the battes between the group of YOU KNOW WHO and the group of Dumbledore and Harry etc.I love reading the books because J. K. Rowling,the fabulous writer,can decribe every scene so distinctly and imaginatively that I think I am travelling in the books.This is just my opinion but I really want to know about yours.Please let me know.You can tell me anything.

My Interesting Hobby

I have a new hobby and it is awesome.It is incredible that I can make it.I grew my own vegetables two week ago.They include morning glory,parsley,kale and Chinese vegetables,but I think I put too many seeds,bought from my school,in the planters. Thus the baby plants are too close to one another.I am not sure they can survive because I am not a kind of good gardener.If they can,I will be proud of myself since this is my first time growing the healthful plants.In this post,I want to ask my beloved students 2 questions because I need your help.
1.Do you think I will have a chance to enjoy the taste of the fresh organic vegetables?
2.Do you have any tips for the greens planting in my garden?

Life Without Limbs: Nick Vujicic

Today's topic is from Joe who reccommended me to post a link about Nick Vujicic. Actually, I heard about this guy from the television documentary when I was in Australia last April. Nick was born in Melbourne, Australia with limbless, missing both arms at shoulder level, and having one small foot with two toes protruding from his left thigh. Although his life is filled with difficulties and hardships, he's never given up. He does so many things and one of those is motivational speaker. He lives his life with high quality as a human can do for himself and others around him. Sometimes you may think that life is hard. If you see this video clip, it may change your mind.

A Fishing Bird

Surrounded by the Handsome Air Force Men

Having the opportunity to teach the air force men gave me a chance to learn many things about them.Firstly,they were very polite and gentle.They spoke to one another and to me as the way of the gentlmen did.Secondly,they never talked while I was teaching.They always talked to me when it was necessary to-asking or answering my questions.That made the teaching environment wonderful.Thirdly,they had big responsibility.They punctually submitted their homework,and they never be late for class.Fourthly,they were helpful.They really took care of me such as coffee break and the essential document used for teaching.Finally,they were very smart.They were good at English,especially grammar.They were second to none.They were eager to learn and research what they did not know.Like the American learning style,they were brave to ask me a lot of questions when the content was not clear.THat made the class active. I could that it was the impressive class I ever taught.

Going up High

I somtimes have an idea to do something very big,and I sometimes struggle in order to fulfill my dream.I sometimes fail and lose courage,but I never quit.This is because I have an idea that I can learn something good from the failure.As I wrote in my blog that "Live to Learn and Learn to Live".That makes me strong and mature enough to live in the world full of competition.

I had a case to share the idea with you about it.It was the simple one.I went to a boy scout camp last year and there was a base that challenged me.I knew I could not make it because of my weight.I tried to go up as high as I could,but that height shown in the picture was the highest spot I could climb.I was very happy for the result, although it was not high enough to compare with the scouts.Why? Because I think that was high enough to compare with teachers who were at the same age and weight as I.

I could not reach at the top of the triangle.That was fine with me because I had an opportunity to do something new.What about you? Have you ever done something very big? If so,please let me know.

GAT Preparation for My Lovely Students

My Big Fans

Dear students,
I absolutely appreciate five students'opinions on the comments they have posted since they were assigned at the beginning of the course.However,Ploy who had to be in the picture did not come and take the picture as I told her.It is proved that not all the M6 students can do like them even though they have the same tasks and work at the the same time.Anyway,I am eager to read different comments from the others.

The students seen in the picture are active and enthusiastic about the topics posted by me.Their English at present are better than that in the past.I am very proud of them.They are my big fans.They often read and write English;consequently,they can undoubtedly brush up their English soon.Keep going.Do not stop doing such the good valuable thing.Bright future is for the ones who light candles themselves.Actually,
there are a lot of students who have alrealy posted in my blog and the others just visit and read the topics.If you look back,you will find that a lot of students gave me the comments through the website.Thus I am looking forward to seeing the other new big fans who frequently visit and comment on the topic you love.Thank you for all the students, not only the five one mentioned above,who work hard by writing your comments to me.

Nongpho:My lovely Dog

I met Nongpho at my father's house when I visited him.I decided to fed him after I knew that my family members did not want him any more.I suddenly realised that he had something special,so I took him home.He was smart, obedient and cheerful.In addition,he was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen in my life.In my opinion,the meaning of the word "beautiful" is the beauty found inside himself but not the beauty by its appearance.

He was my truly friend.We were very close,and he was never out of my sight.He stayed by my side twenty four hours.He was the first living thing I could see when I woke up and returned home.We played hide and seek after I returned home from work every day.We did so many unforgettable activities together that he became one of my family.He loved to post whenever I took pictures of him,and he was the best model I had ever guaranteed.

He was a happy dog.He preferred eating all the time.He could eat everything including fruits and vegetables.That means he was always hanging around my dinner table while I was having meal.However,there was one thing he absolutely loathe and always ran away from.That was being taken a bath.I did not know why but I could not let him do what he wanted.This was because I and my family wanted him to be clean.Thus everybody as well as I could hug him happily.What I want to say now is I REALLY LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU,NONGPHO,ALTHOUGH YOU PASSED AWAY TWO YEARS AGO.

Self-Esteem

There is one person who I feel valued and loved all the time.The one,who I never look down upon or have the negative thinking to,is me.I always proud of my abilities and skills.Why? If I do not respect myself or appreciate my own worth,who will do so? How about my dear students? Once I asked you about your values but you don't see yourself having the qualities.That shocked me because I know that you have high qualities.You are the new generations of the new world.You can do everything if you think you can.I want you to have high self-esteem.Thus,my beloved students try to improve good self-esteem and overcome self-esteem problems.Let try these tips.
1.Be confident.
2.Have the right attitude.
3.Have the feeling of self-satisfaction.
4.Be happy with your life.
5.Respect and love yourself.
6.Thinking about positive aspects of yourself.

Michael Jackson was the king of pop who had rocked the world of music for 19 years.I was shocked when I heard the sad news.It was unbelievable that his big fans and I lost the talented singer like him.I can never forgot him because there was one of his songs remained in my mind.It shows me the beauty of music and his kind heart. How to apply the Sufficiency Economy to our lives?

Dear students,

This is a second task for this week. It is about the Sufficiency Economy.

It is no doubt that these days we tend to be more stressed and depressed than those in the past. This is because of curtain factors that affect our society as well as our life styles. Since the economic crisis in 1997, we have faced quantity of both individual and social problems such as debt, crime, unemployed, poverty, uneducated, drug addition, terrorism, etc. All of them are the social issues which need to be solved as quickly as possible. However, it is not easy to seek proper solutions for this circumstance. As a result, the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy was considered as a guideline to help Thai people earn a good living and the country in overcoming the economic crisis.

The Sufficiency Economy was given by His Majesty the King Bhumibpl Adulyadej to us, the people of Thailand. It focuses on a balanced way of living. The philosophy contains three principles of moderation, reasonableness and immunity along with the conditions of morality and knowledge which can be applied to either individual or the whole society in order to maintain the balance, stability and sustainability.

As Thai citizen, I would like you to convey your ideas about how to apply the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy to your life. This will be useful for not only you, but your friends also.

The Power of M 6/5 Students

Some M 6/5 students are so alert and enthusiastic that they struggled to hand my homework after school,because they did not want to be left behind.I really love the way they think.When they saw Angkhana,the only one who could make it, submited the difficult task in my teaching period,they promised to do so in the evening of that day and they could do what they said.I wondered how they could finish it,and they told me an unbelievable secret.That was "Just worked hard,did not talk on the phone and stayed up late.They have high task commitment.I am so happy to teach you all.

My Outstanding Student

I can not believe Miss Angkhana from M6/5 becames my outstanding student of the first week of the English instruction.She is the only one who finished and submited my really tough assignment on time.That was amazing.Why? Because looking up 1200 words and expressions in dictionaries needs self-discipline, endurance, diligence, patience, responsibility, optimistic and teamwork.I think there is one thing the other students can learn from her.That is "Where there is the will,there is the way".I want to say that you,Angkhana,are great.I am so proud of you.Keep going!
